***THANKS TO THE STORMS AND RAINS RECENTLY, WE WILL VISIT OUR OC LOCAL SEASONAL WATERFALLS.

We will visit the scenic road Ortega Hwy 74 leading to Cleveland National Forest, spectacular views of the Santa Ana Mountains, and even an occasional glimpse of the ocean on clear days. The trail is quite diverse, following streams in small canyons, over open mountain slopes, through oak shaded woodlands and coastal chaparral.

ABOUT THE HIKE:
The San Juan Loop is an easy stroll through a scenic stream-fed canyon. The trail has a variety of habitats, including oak woodlands, chaparral covered slopes and San Juan Falls, a seasonal waterfall then track back and complete the San Juan Loop before returning to the parking area. WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR:
Comfortable Hiking Boots you don't mind getting wet. Extra shoes and socks to leave in your car. Water!, Snacks if you'd like and your camera. Most important bring protective clothing for the poison oak. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: A FOREST ADVENTURE PASS PARKING PERMIT IS REQUIRED! The Candy Store may sell it, but it's better to get this Pass at any sport store near you. Most of Big 5 Sport Store has it or check this link for more info: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/ap/

Carpool suggested location in Irvine offs the I-5 at Jeffrey for those come from the North.
From I-5 freeway in San Juan Capistrano, take the Ortega (74) Highway exit. Drive 19.6 miles east to the Ortega Oaks RV Park (Candy Store on the right) Park in the trailhead parking lot on the left (San Juan Falls)

We'll meet here first and carpool to a dirt lot, to hike to Ortega Falls is located a little bit passed the Ortega Oaks Candy Store. It is the next major trailhead area after a big S curve in the highway. There is parking on both sides of the road, however the trail starts on the left side of the road coming from Orange County. If you hit El Cariso Village, you have gone too far
