A PERFECT 4-DAY/3-NIGHT Channel Islands Backpacking/Dayhiking/Kayaking Adventure Monday, May 27, 2019 1:00 PM

Last-Minute Backpackers

Good afternoon, "LMBP!”

Here’s my Channel Islands National Park trip (where we will be backpackers, kayakers, AND “marginal tourists”).

This will be a FOUR DAY/THREE NIGHT trip beginning/ending w/a one-hour boat ride from Ventura across the Santa Barbara Channel to/from the largest of the Channel Islands, Santa Cruz. We begin at ISLAND PACKERS’ VENTURA HARBOR facility (NOT OXNARD!).

Because we’ll bring so much gear to one campsite, this is basically CAR-CAMPING, but ON the island (this means camp chairs, better food, Jiffypop, etc.).

DAYS ONE and FOUR are boat traveling days.

NIGHT THREE, if we so choose, could be, following a 10-mile hike, at the island’s DEL NORTE BACKCOUNTRY CAMPGROUND. I have double-booked NIGHT THREE.

DAY TWO is a 2.5-hour KAYAKING TOUR of the SEA CAVES. You do not have to participate, but we’d love you to consider this as part of your trip!

DAYS TWO, THREE, and FOUR are day-hiking to Potato Harbor, Cavern Point, Scorpion Rock, Smugglers Cove, and the NP Visitors’ Center (UNLESS we decide to backpack/camp at DEL NORTE BACKCOUNTRY CAMPGROUND).

NOTE: Unless you are one of the FIRST TEN to PAY me, you must secure your ISLAND PACKERS reservation on the 27th and 30th on your own, BUT ONLY AFTER SPEAKING DIRECTLY WITH ME at[masked].

NOTE: IF YOU WISH TO KAYAK, THIS MUST BE PAID FOR ADDITIONALLY and VERY SOON w/your payment/deposit. I have secured only SIX reservations so far!

TOTAL PAYMENT DUE for camping and boat transportation is $109: the deposit ($30) plus the boat transport ($79). EXTRA PAYMENT DUE for kayaking is $149.

ALSO, SNORKELING w/full gear rental is available at $45.

Here are several good websites:

I will send you a full trip itinerary when complete.
