Shepherd Church Mountain Biking Club

This is a great local favorite in the Thousand Oaks area. Great views, great climbs, glorious singletrack.
Los Robles is a very long trail connecting Rancho Sierra Vista/ Satwiwa National Park in Newbury Park to Foothill Drive in Westlake Village. The eastern half is almost entirely fire road. The western end is entirely singletrack.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced. (Strong beginners will be challenge, maybe to much)

All new riders are requested to bring or email a signed waiver for Shepherd Church. You may get yours from the Church's website: Shepherd Sports Mountain Bike Club (http://www.shepherdsports.org/page/679)

We typically divide into three groups on any given ride:

Genesis: at the front, the beginning, are the Genesis guys and gals. Most all are either on competitive teams, or were, and riding with them will be a sweat-pouring, cardio-pushing, speed & tech fest that will leave advanced riders grinning ear to ear. Genesis is a DROP group, meaning you have to be able to keep up and not get lost if you can't.

Gospels: In the middle of the story are the Gospel guys and gals. Intermediates welcome. If you're on a Most Wanted list, avoid this group as they will post online an average of 50 pictures a ride. The Gospels are a NO DROP group and usually go the same route as Genesis but at a more leisurely pace.

Revelations: Everyone was new to mountain biking once, so don't fret. We'll get you Gospel-ready in no time. Obviously, this is a NO DROP group.

By riding with the Shepherd Church Mountain Bike Club I understand and accept the following:

? I understand that mountain biking can be dangerous and accidents can result in either injury or death.

? I understand that it is my responsibility to determine if my riding skills match the difficulty of the trail we are riding on.

? I understand that ride schedulers accept no responsibility for my safety on any ride, and that I undertake any ride knowing that I and I alone am responsible for my safety on the ride.

IMPORTANT: All riders should be aware that mountain biking can be extremely physically demanding. Each rider should be conscious of their own limitations and to WALK any section of the trail you are not comfortable riding.

Newcomer Recommendations:
Shepherd Church MTB welcomes new riders but baseline fitness is required.
Training with runs, rides, and core exercises through the week will quickly build up strength for riding.
If you are completely new to mountain biking, we strongly recommend that you first attend a training class. An excellent one is hosted by CORBA (The Concerned Off-Road Bicyclists Association), Free Mountain Bike Skills Clinics, held the 1st Saturday of each month;
