2016's: Chevrolet Trax CrossoverDel Stewart

Customers looking for a well-equipped, entry-level SUV find the Chevrolet Trax a perfect fit. In fact, this small SUV appeals to a large number of buyers who are new to Chevrolet, accounting for 47 percent of its sales.

With a recently announced 5-star Overall Vehicle Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Trax is one of the safest vehicles in its class. Features such as a protective safety cage made of ultra high-strength steel surrounding the passenger compartment, 10 standard air bags, a rearview camera and available rear park assist also appeal to women, who make up 58 percent of sales, and people under 35, who represent 19 percent of sales.

Fusing small-car agility and utility convenience of an SUV, Trax offers up to 48.4 cubic feet (1,371 liters) of cargo space. A sporty and sleek appearance combines with an Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged engine under the hood, providing the efficiency of a small displacement engine with the power of a larger engine on-demand.

For 2016, Trax builds on its recent launch with four new exterior colors: Crimson Metallic, Sable Metallic, Cyber Gray Metallic and Champagne Silver Metallic. It comes in LS, LT and LTZ trims.

Connectivity features are becoming more important to customers, so the Trax accommodates increasingly connected lifestyles with available OnStar 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. The hotspot provides a mobile hub that is on whenever the vehicle is on. Additional connectivity comes from MyLink technology, which features the segment’s only seven-inch color touch screen. Plus, Trax is the first in its class to offer Siri Eyes Free.

Other vehicle highlights found on the 2016 Trax include:

  • Available all-wheel drive
  • Fuel-saving electric power steering

  • Ten standard air bags, including side-curtain and knee air bags – and the segment’s only rear seat-mounted thorax air bags
